Like Maria, 3,699 other individuals have been able to access interactive, multimedia software in statewide Educational Opportunity Centers (EOCs) and a Career Counseling and Outreach Center.

These EOC sites essentially function as the 65th campus of the State University of New York. For thirty-five years, EOCs have demonstrated their excellence and proven leadership in bringing innovative academic and vocational training programs to urban communities.

Digital parity enables the under-served and under-employed adult learner to:

  • Increase access to state-of-the-art technology in order to function responsibly in an increasingly demanding technological world;
  • Increase academic and employability skills, utilizing educationally-sound responsive software;
  • Access post-secondary education or career-oriented lifelong learning;
  • Gain knowledge of the world through the Internet;
  • Use technology in daily living and workplace tasks;
  • Communicate and share information with individuals from around the world;
  • Use technology to support a child's learning in and out of the classroom.
