Educational
Opportunity Centers
The statewide
network of ten Educational Opportunity Centers (EOCS) and two Outreach
and Counseling Centers essentially functions as the 65th campus
of the State University of New York. With more than a thirty year
history, EOCs have pioneered the way in providing urban communities
with innovative academic programs leading to higher education, and
vocational training programs leading to gainful employment and economic
self-sufficiency.

Counseling
and Outreach Centers
The purpose of the two Career Counseling and
Outreach Centers is to assist academic and economically disadvantaged
youths and adults ages 16 and over who meet the Educational Opportunity
Center income guidelines to prepare for further education and improve
their skills for participation in productive work.

The University
Center for Academic and Workforce Development provides local education
programs and local social service districts technical assistance.

Work
Now Program
Workforce Development (UCAWD) has managed
the New York City Human Resources Administration's Work Now program
since 1997. The program has a field staff of approximately 100 and
a base of over 50 education and training providers, and a current
yearly budget of $20.5M.

Jobs
for Youth Apprenticeship Program
The University
Center for Academic and Workforce Development provides educational
and vocational training to youth ages 16-21 through its Jobs for
Youth Apprenticeship Program (JFYA-P) located in Brooklyn, New York.
The goal of this program is to prepare "at risk" youth
for entry into employment and higher education.
